Veteran Nollywood star Yinka Quadri has been officially inducted as the Mayor of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) at a ceremony in Oshodi. He thanked the Governor of Lagos, the Commissioner for Transportation, and the agency’s General Manager for the honour and for trusting him with this role. Quadri described the appointment as a recognition of his commitment and a call to serve with even greater dedication, integrity, and passion. He pledged to use his influence to promote traffic management, improve road safety, and drive public enlightenment across Lagos State as part of LASTMA’s Special Marshal programme.

It's interesting to see an actor leading traffic management, but will his Nollywood background translate into effective road safety enforcement?

The Mayor could start with stricter helmet and seatbelt checks, plus public education campaigns at busy Oshodi junctions to improve compliance.
