UK Government Defends Attendance at ADC Convention Ahead of 2027 Polls

The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office says its officials attended the African Democratic Congress national convention in Abuja as part of routine diplomatic engagement. According to the spokesperson, this practice allows the British High Commission to support Nigeria’s democratic institutions and processes. The delegation was led by the Political Secretary with support from Nigerian staff. The UK government reiterated its commitment to credible, inclusive and peaceful elections in Nigeria through collaboration on governance, institutional strengthening and electoral integrity.
