Ex-Titans Star Chris Johnson Announces ALS Diagnosis, Pledges to Keep Fighting

Former NFL standout Chris Johnson revealed on a national morning show that he has been diagnosed with sporadic ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. At 40, Johnson learned of the condition when he noticed his grip weakening while playing with his family. He shared the initial shock and the choices that followed: give up or fight. Johnson has chosen to fight and is now undergoing experimental treatments alongside his wife and four children to help advance research for new therapies. Across a decade-long career with the Titans, Jets and Cardinals, Johnson racked up nearly 10,000 rushing yards and earned three Pro Bowl nods. Today, he uses his platform to raise awareness of how quickly ALS can progress and the urgent need for breakthroughs.
