Civil Society Issues 24-Hour Ultimatum to IGP over Alleged Plot Against Hammed Akanbi
A coalition of civil society groups has accused top police officers of conspiring to target Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi, chairman of the Ojomu Royal Family Youth Wing. They demand his immediate transfer to an independent investigative unit and full access to his lawyers and family. The CSO says the dispute is rooted in a long-running crisis over ancestral lands in Eti-Osa LGA. Allegations include land inducements worth over ₦1.2 billion and collusion between a royal claimant, senior lawyers, and former Lagos CP Jimoh Moshood Olorundare. They warn of human rights abuses, forced confessions, private detention and even a plot to poison Mr. Akanbi. The CSO has given the Inspector General 24 hours to comply or face nationwide protests, legal actions and petitions to oversight bodies.
