Cardiovascular diseases, hypertension and diabetes are rising sharply in our communities. Doctor Ngozi Okonkwo of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, highlighted this at a free health outreach in Idemili North and South. Sponsored by Member of Parliament Uche Okonkwor, the program offered checks for blood pressure, sugar levels, vision screening and malaria tests. The initiative also included talks on diet, cancer awareness and eye care to help residents stay healthy. Mr. Okonkwor said good health is essential for productivity and community development. Over 5,000 people benefited from tests, treatments and medical advice provided in collaboration with NAUTH and the Annie Okonkwor Foundation.
