Elliott Alleges Intimidation and Security Withdrawal Ahead of Surulere APC Primary
A Lagos State lawmaker has alleged political intimidation and the withdrawal of his security aides ahead of his party’s primary election in Surulere Constituency I. In a viral video, Desmond Elliott accused local APC leaders and council officials of forcing members to back a favoured aspirant and sidelining those who supported him. Elliott said the local government had openly backed another candidate months before the primaries scheduled for 20 May. He warned that outsiders could be mobilised to cause disruption and urged party elders to investigate the matter. Despite the tensions, he vowed to accept a free and fair outcome and pledged to support the winner. He also promised adequate security for his backers during the exercise.
