Amotekun Busts ‘Fake Lunatics’ Aiding Kidnappers, Arrests 98 Suspects in Ondo
The Ondo State Amotekun Corps has arrested 98 suspects linked to kidnapping, robbery and drug peddling across the state. Among them were men disguised as mentally unstable to evade suspicion while gathering intelligence for criminal gangs. Sixty of the suspects are now facing prosecution in courts, while 38 cases were settled through Alternative Dispute Resolution. Thirteen others remain under investigation. Commander Adetunji Adeleye explained that operatives tracked the disguised criminals to locations where they charged phones, changed clothes and coordinated abductions. Ten suspects were caught in the act at kidnapping scenes. In a separate operation, Amotekun’s rapid response team rescued a couple from captivity in the Iluabo forest without paying any ransom.
