The NDLEA announced the arrest of a 67-year-old Nigerian-British woman at MMIA, Lagos, after agents found 13kg of cocaine concealed in plantain peels among her luggage. She was stopped at the departure hall of Terminal 2 while attempting to board a flight to London. In a separate sting operation in Anambra’s Ekwusigo LGA, officers seized 5.8kg of cocaine hidden inside cartons of an herbal drink bound for Malaysia and arrested a 45-year-old PhD student and several accomplices. Other recent busts include nearly 44,000 tramadol capsules in Taraba, methamphetamine in Kaduna, skunk in Ebonyi and Plateau states, and over half a ton of cannabis in Gombe. NDLEA commands across the country have also stepped up War Against Drug Abuse sensitisation activities in schools, worship centres, workplaces and communities. The agency’s chairman commended all officers involved and urged them to maintain high operational standards.
