Ex-Minister Uche Nnaji Arrested at Enugu Airport in Certificate Forgery Probe

Ex-Minister Uche Nnaji Arrested at Enugu Airport in Certificate Forgery Probe

Former Science and Technology Minister Uche Nnaji was taken into custody on Wednesday at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu. Security agents intercepted him as he prepared to board a chartered flight to Abuja. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission obtained a court order to arrest Nnaji after he allegedly ignored multiple invitations for questioning. He faces allegations of falsifying his university degree and NYSC certificate during his appointment screening. Documents submitted by Nnaji to the presidency, Senate and other agencies triggered the probe. He has denied the claims and appealed the arrest order at the Court of Appeal in Abuja. His detention marks a significant phase as the ICPC intensifies its investigation.

It's interesting that security agents waited until he was at the airport before detaining him for a certificate fraud investigation.

I'm not convinced this arrest alone proves wrongdoing; the details of the certificate claims need clearer evidence first.

Authorities should ensure full transparency of the process and promptly share findings to maintain public trust in the ICPC probe.
