Fury Declares ‘No Joshua, No More Boxing’ After Comeback Win

Fury Declares ‘No Joshua, No More Boxing’ After Comeback Win

Tyson Fury has warned that he will hang up his gloves if Anthony Joshua is not his next opponent. The British heavyweight made a triumphant return at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, beating Arslanbek Makhmudov by unanimous decision after 16 months out. In his post-fight news conference, Fury insisted he’s no longer motivated by belts or rankings. “If it ain’t Anthony Joshua next, I’m not interested,” he said. “I’ll eat a thousand Easter eggs and go up to 35 stone. I’m out.” Promoter Frank Warren says Fury has signed to face Joshua and that the fight will “100% happen this year,” with Wembley and Croke Park among the venues under discussion. Netflix has even hinted at an autumn date. Joshua responded cautiously, acknowledging ongoing negotiations and personal matters after a recent car crash in Nigeria. “In my heart, I’ll fight Tyson Fury tomorrow,” he said, but added that contracts must be finalised and he needs time to consider his next steps.

I see your point, but a Fury–Joshua bout could actually reignite fan excitement instead of stalling things.

It's notable he spent 16 months out before a unanimous decision win, yet he's already demanding the next opponent.

Setting Joshua as the sole option feels like a power play rather than a genuine commitment to boxing's competitive spirit.

Promoters should line up backup opponents immediately so Fury can stay active even if Joshua declines the bout.
