Kano Woman Remanded After Pleading Guilty to Attacking Boyfriend

A 25-year-old woman, Maimuna Idris, has been remanded in a correctional centre after pleading guilty to charges of attempted culpable homicide and causing grievous harm. Prosecutors told a Kano Magistrates’ Court that Idris allegedly attacked her boyfriend, Ashiru Sani, with a knife at a hotel in Badawa Quarters on July 27. The attack was reportedly triggered by her discovery that he intended to marry another woman. The victim was taken to a urology hospital for treatment. The court adjourned the case until September 9 for further mention.
