Aiyegun’s Late Strike Snatches 2-2 Draw From PSG

Aiyegun’s Late Strike Snatches 2-2 Draw From PSG — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Paris Saint-Germain were held to a 2-2 draw by Lorient at the Parc des Princes after Aiyegun Tosin’s late equaliser denied the champions victory. PSG took the lead inside six minutes through an unfortunate own goal but were pegged back almost immediately when Panos Katseris set up Pablo Pagis to level. The hosts regained the advantage early in the second half via Warren Zaire-Emery’s first-touch finish. Just when PSG looked certain to claim all three points, debutant Pierre Mounguengue’s misplaced backpass allowed Aiyegun to race clear and finish calmly for his first goal of the season. Despite the setback, PSG still top Ligue 1 by seven points, while Lorient maintain their impressive run against the Paris side.

True, he timed his run perfectly and PSG's backline were caught flat-footed.

Sure, when defenders drift, an alert striker can exploit even the tiniest gap at full stretch.

PSG looked anything but unbeatable when Lorient capitalised on that own goal almost immediately after falling behind.

A draw at Parc des Princes hardly signals collapse; even champions can slip up against a well organised Lorient side.

PSG should focus on defensive drills this week to avoid late lapses, then they could regain full control in upcoming matches.
