David Mark Slams APC for Undermining Nigeria’s Democracy

David Mark, national chairman of the African Democratic Congress, accused the ruling APC of attacking democratic institutions at the National Opposition Summit in Ibadan. He claimed the government has spent the last three years trying to deny Nigerians the right to choose their leaders. He warned that efforts to compromise key bodies and pressure opposition parties amount to an attempt to impose a one-party state. Mark urged all opposition groups to set aside personal ambition, unite in coalition and put Nigeria’s interests first. He also raised concerns about the neutrality of the Independent National Electoral Commission, saying falling public confidence in the body threatens the credibility of future elections. Mark called on stakeholders to take swift action to preserve Nigeria’s democratic system.
