Retired IGP Mike Okiro Builds Mosque at Police Secondary School Minna
In a move that highlights religious harmony, former Inspector General of Police Mike Mbama Okiro has funded and completed a new mosque at Police Secondary School, Minna, Niger State. A Christian by faith, Chief Okiro’s gesture fosters inclusion in a federal institution that serves students of diverse backgrounds. The mosque offers Muslim students, staff, and the nearby community a dignified space for worship and reflection. The Emir of Kagara honoured Chief Okiro with the traditional title “Sarkin-Haske of Niger” during the opening ceremony, praising his commitment to unity and tolerance. This marks the fourth mosque he has built or renovated across Nigeria. Nigeria’s strength lies in its diversity. Chief Okiro’s example shows how leaders can bridge divides and model respect across faiths.
