Kaduna Stars and Queens Extend Hockey Reign with National and West Africa Triumphs

Kaduna State’s male and female hockey teams have once again stamped their authority on the sport. At the 2026 National Hockey Super League finals in Abuja, Kada Stars edged Plateau Tigers 3–2 for a record fifth straight men’s title, while Kada Queens defeated Plateau Queens 2–0 to secure their fourth consecutive crown. Earlier this year, both sides carried their form into Accra by winning the Male and Female categories at the 2026 Median HFS West Africa Invitational Challenge Cup. Since 2023, Kada Stars and Queens have remained unbeaten champions, showcasing consistency and resilience on every stage. Team Kaduna has also become a talent pipeline for Nigeria’s national sides, supplying 10 male and 8 female players. The State Ministry of Sports credits Governor Uba Sani’s investments in infrastructure, coaching and grassroots development for creating the winning environment. The ministry pledges continued support to ensure Kaduna remains the home of hockey excellence.

For Plateau teams to challenge Kaduna again, they should focus on tactical drills and scouting emerging talents early.
