New CAC Deadline: Update Your Company Letterhead by August 1, 2026

The Corporate Affairs Commission has announced that all registered companies must meet new letterhead requirements by August 1, 2026. Defaulters risk sanctions under the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020. Under the new rules, every business letter must display the full names of current and former directors, the nationality of any non-Nigerian director, the registered company name, registration number, and office address in clear, legible characters. The CAC warns it will begin strict enforcement on August 1 and urges companies to review their letterheads and official correspondence now to ensure full compliance.

It's interesting the CAC insists on full company names on each letterhead or risk sanctions.

I'm not convinced changing every document just for letterhead rules will improve corporate governance overall.

Start auditing your current letterheads now, then plan a phased redesign to ensure full compliance by August 2026.
