Potato Seller Jailed for Life Over Defiling 6-Year-Old in Lagos
An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court has sentenced a 30-year-old potato seller to life imprisonment for defiling a six-year-old girl. Justice Abiola Soladoye ruled that the prosecution proved charges of defilement and sexual assault by penetration beyond reasonable doubt. The judge described the evidence as lucid, truthful and unambiguous, noting that a minor cannot consent under any circumstances. The offence occurred in September 2023 in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos. The judge ordered that the sentences run concurrently and directed that the convict’s name be entered in the Lagos State Sexual Offences Register.
