Lagos Man Arrested in Kano for Fake Ushering Scam Against Female Students
Police in Kano have detained a 32-year-old Lagos resident for allegedly duping 38 female students of Bayero University with a fake ushering job offer. The suspect reportedly invited the students to a hotel in Sabon Gari, told them to leave their phones behind, and ordered meals worth ₦6,000 per person before disappearing with their valuables. Twenty-nine phones and other items were later recovered through intelligence tracing to a motor park along Zaria Road. The arrest was made in Zaria as the suspect attempted to flee to Lagos. He is now held at the zonal Criminal Investigation Department pending court arraignment. Authorities warn job seekers to verify offers and never surrender personal belongings to strangers.
