Dakar Gendarmerie Busts International Cocaine Ring, Two Nigerians Arrested

Dakar Gendarmerie Busts International Cocaine Ring, Two Nigerians Arrested

The Faidherbe Research Brigade of the Dakar gendarmerie has dismantled an international cocaine trafficking network. Four suspects were arrested, including two Nigerian nationals and a 25-year-old woman known as “Rose” and her boyfriend. The operation began when an undercover officer ordered one gram of cocaine. Rose was arrested near the VDN with the drugs, and her partner was caught shortly after during a room search. Under interrogation, the couple named Nigerian national KM Ogbu as their supplier. He was detained with two grams of cocaine. Investigators then traced another two-gram order to compatriot M. Nwafor, who was arrested in Dieuppeul. A fourth Nigerian suspect remains at large. All four appeared before the High Court of Dakar today on charges of conspiracy, possession and international drug trafficking. The national gendarmerie under General Martin Faye says it will intensify efforts against organised crime.

It's interesting that this bust happened in Dakar after undercover work, yet details on how contraband crossed borders remain vague.
