Bandits allegedly killed Kaduna businessman Mallam Auwal after his family paid ₦12 million for his release. Auwal was reportedly abducted from his home in Hayin Babban Saura Police Quarters. After the ransom was delivered, the kidnappers allegedly told the family that he had been killed and buried. His son, who reportedly delivered the ransom, was also seized and remains in captivity. A Salatul Gha'ib prayer was held at Murtala Square, Kaduna, on August 12, 2026, as relatives and residents prayed for his safe return.
