Troops Ambush, Kill Two ISWAP Suspects Near University of Maiduguri
At about 12:15 a.m. on July 16, 2026, troops of the 73 Battalion under Operation Hadin Kai, working with local vigilantes, ambushed two suspected ISWAP terrorists along Tamsukawu Road behind UNIMAID. A fierce firefight broke out, leaving both insurgents neutralised while their accomplices fled into nearby bushes. Troops searched the area afterwards but made no further contact.
