Lagos Police Arrest Four Cult Suspects in Egbeda, Seize Pistol and Ammunition
Police in Lagos State arrested four suspected cultists in Egbeda after credible intelligence revealed plans for a midnight initiation ceremony. Officers recovered a locally made cut-to-size pistol, an English Beretta pistol loaded with ten rounds, live ammunition and a jack knife. The suspects, aged between 34 and 41, include one alleged gang leader who was expelled from an Ogun university in 2022 over cult-related activities. Investigations link the group to thuggery and violent attacks terrorising residents of Egbeda and neighbouring communities. They have confessed to membership in the Eiye Confraternity and said they used motorcycles to carry out assaults on unsuspecting members of the public. The state Commissioner of Police hailed the raid as a major breakthrough in the fight against cultism. Authorities urged residents to stay vigilant and continue providing credible information to support ongoing efforts to tackle violent crime across the state.
