Gov Yusuf’s Spokesman Labels Kwankwaso’s NNPP Exit ‘Greatest Political Lesson’

Gov Yusuf’s Spokesman Labels Kwankwaso’s NNPP Exit ‘Greatest Political Lesson’

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, NNPP national leader and 2023 presidential candidate, announced his resignation on Sunday and is set to join the African Democratic Congress. In response, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, spokesperson to the Kano State governor, called Kwankwaso’s exit the greatest political lesson he has seen. Dawakin-Tofa rejected claims that former NNPP members had abandoned the Kwankwasiyya movement or its core ideology. He stressed that none of them renounced their beliefs or stopped wearing the red cap when they left. However, he said Kwankwaso’s decision has now changed the narrative. “It has become necessary for us to pray for our leader, because today he has betrayed himself,” he quipped, before closing on a lighter note: “May God forgive us all, and may He forgive him too, lol.”

What do you think motivated Rabiu Kwankwaso to resign from NNPP after leading it and running in 2023?

True, his resignation reminds us sey no politician too strong for market forces; clear lesson.

If it's a lesson, what specific misstep or insight is the spokesman referring to?

Calling his departure the 'greatest political lesson' seems more like spin than genuine analysis of his impact on NNPP's future.

I'm not convinced Dawakin-Tofa's spin will clarify why Kwankwaso jumped to ADC instead of addressing NNPP's internal issues.

Whatever lessons emerge, party organizers should use this reshuffle to strengthen internal dialogue and prevent future defections.
