Ogun Assembly Overturns Removal, Clears Ex-Speaker Oluomo of Embezzlement

The Ogun State House of Assembly adopted a resolution clearing former Speaker Olakunle Oluomo of alleged embezzlement tied to his January 23, 2024 removal. Deputy Speaker Lateefat Bolanle Ajayi presented the ad hoc committee’s report on March 31, 2026. The report noted that the embezzlement accusation was not part of Oluomo’s removal notice and lacked factual evidence in terms of figures or documents. Lawmakers then voted by voice to withdraw the allegation and convert his removal into a resignation. The resolution cited principles of unity and legislative due process in arriving at the decision.
