Lagos Leaders Urge Responsible Parenting to Tackle Insecurity
Lagos State’s deputy governor and first lady have called on parents to model strong family values in order to curb rising insecurity and social vices. At the Eid-al-Adha celebration in Ikeja, the deputy governor cited Prophet Ibrahim’s example of obedience, patience and sacrifice as a guide for character formation at home. He condemned domestic violence and child abuse and highlighted state programs that support families and protect vulnerable members of society. The governor’s wife echoed the need for parents to instil good morals and discipline, noting that neglect leaves children open to negative influences. She also prayed for the safe return of students abducted in Oyo State. The event featured a lecture by the Chief Imam of Lekki Central Mosque, emphasizing positive role-modelling and open dialogue within families. The home affairs ministry reaffirmed its commitment to religious harmony, peace and unity across Lagos.
