Akwa Ibom State Raises Monthly Allowance for NYSC Corps Members to ₦20,000
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has announced a significant increase in the monthly allowance for NYSC corps members serving in the state. Starting from August 1st, 2025, the allowance will rise from N5,000 to ₦20,000. This decision was made during the recent Day Two of the State Delivery Meeting at the Government House in Uyo. The governor stated that the increase aims to support corps members in meeting their basic needs and aligns with the Federal Government’s ₦77,000 monthly allowance. Over 10,000 corps members are posted to Akwa Ibom annually. The governor emphasized ongoing efforts to improve their welfare, including plans for the reconstruction of the NYSC Orientation Camp at Ikot Itie Idung. Akwa Ibom remains a popular and safe destination for youth service members, contributing significantly to education, healthcare, agriculture, and rural development in the state. This move reflects Governor Eno’s leadership style, which focuses on compassion, inclusiveness, and strategic support for Nigeria’s youth and future leaders.
