Inside Alimosho APC Split: Cross-Party Deals and a Scapegoat
Alimosho’s APC collapse in 2023 stemmed from hidden alliances, not an open rivalry. After the 2019 fallout over the Lagos Assembly ticket, one faction backed an Accord Party candidate with a promise of return. Meanwhile, a key ally organised Labour Party activities in 2022, further weakening party unity. Despite clear signs of anti-party conduct, no sanctions were taken. When the APC lost the constituency, blame fell on Abdullahi Enilolobo, who had no role in those covert manoeuvres. Both power centres remained untouched through ward-level networks. As Lagos eyes 2027, the reunited blocs have endorsed fresh candidates even as rumours of new cross-carpeting swirl. Observers now watch to see if the APC will finally enforce discipline or repeat the patterns that cost it Alimosho.
