Paul’s Mars Hill Sermon: From Superstition to True Worship

Paul stood before the Athenians at Mars Hill and challenged their superstitions. He pointed to an altar inscribed “To the Unknown God” and declared that the Creator does not dwell in man-made temples or require offerings, for He gives life and breath to all. Paul reminded them that all nations trace their origin to one blood and that God overlooked past ignorance. Now He calls everyone everywhere to repent, having fixed a day when He will judge the world in righteousness through the man He raised from the dead. May we respond to this call, seeking the living God who is never far from each of us. Amen.

It's interesting Paul called their superstitions out, yet some still debate the role of religious symbols today.

I'm not convinced we can dismiss all rituals; some traditions offer communal meaning beyond mere superstition.

Maybe instead of building grand temples, we should focus on acts of kindness and community support that reflect our beliefs.
