Slavko Vinčić Retires After Officiating 2026 World Cup Final

Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić has retired from football after officiating the 2026 FIFA World Cup final. The 46-year-old oversaw Spain’s 1-0 victory over Argentina in East Rutherford, becoming the first Slovenian referee to take charge of a World Cup final. The Slovenian Football Association described the match as the crowning moment of his career. Vinčić was also named the tournament’s best referee by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics.
