Boko Haram Releases Video Showing 416 Abducted Civilians Alive in Ngoshe

A faction of Boko Haram known as Jama’atu Ahlis-Sunna Lidda’Awati Wal-Jihad has released footage of 416 people held in Ngoshe, Gwoza LGA, Borno State. The six-minute video shows mostly women and children who appear healthy, with a spokesperson denying any torture or sexual abuse. The group says it produced the clip at the request of the Borno South Youths Alliance, which has been mediating on behalf of the captives. Victims speak briefly on camera, thanking their captors for food, medicine, and shelter while appealing for urgent government help. The Borno South Youths Alliance confirms the total of 416 hostages differs from earlier estimates and stresses that its mediation efforts do not support terrorism. The alliance urges the federal and state governments, as well as international partners, to step up rescue efforts and secure the safe release of all abducted civilians.
