Why Peter Obi’s Party Switching Could Undermine His 2027 Bid
Presidential elections are won by parties, not individuals. Today, only the APC and PDP have the structure to secure victory in 2027. Peter Obi energized many in 2023 under the Labour Party, but his moves from PDP to Labour, then ADC, and now NDC have hurt his consistency. I have lost faith in his credibility. Frequent party switches suggest he cares more about power than principles. To win the presidency, you must first win tough primaries—and he has none to show. I believe that if he had stayed in PDP and won the 2023 ticket through a dogged primary fight, he might be president now. A candidate who can’t win a primary may struggle to win a national election.
