Accra Protesters Demand Deportation of Nigerians Amid Security and Job Concerns

Accra Protesters Demand Deportation of Nigerians Amid Security and Job Concerns

A Ghanaian youth group held a demonstration at Obra Spot in Accra on April 25, 2026, protesting illegal migration and calling for the removal of Nigerian nationals. The protesters carried placards accusing some foreigners of fraud, ritual killings and organ harvesting. One speaker warned local women to avoid being exploited, alleging that Nigerians were harming Ghana’s welfare. This follows a similar rally in July 2025 amid rising xenophobic tensions. The Nigerian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs visited Ghana to ease fears and assess the situation firsthand. At a joint press briefing, the minister reported no visible unrest on the streets despite viral videos of the protest. She confirmed that authorities in both countries are engaging to resolve the issue peacefully.
