Debunking the Tinubu Age Rumour: Guardian Interview Date Explained

Debunking the Tinubu Age Rumour: Guardian Interview Date Explained

I keep seeing a claim that President Tinubu’s age was falsified using a Guardian interview dated Friday, October 10, 1993. But October 10, 1993 was not a Friday. In that session, Tinubu recalled exile after the June 12, 1992 election, referenced the 1996 killing of Kudirat Abiola, and visiting MKO Abiola’s grave in 1998. He also noted campaigning on the Alliance for Democracy platform, a party formed in September 1998. A 1993 interview date just doesn’t fit. I checked when Tinubu turned 52. It was in 2004, and October 15 that year was indeed a Friday. This aligns with the day-of-week in the newspaper clipping. Verdict: The alleged 1993 publication is a misinterpretation. Claims of age falsification based on this interview are unfounded.

What sources can clarify why October 10, 1993 wasn't a Friday and the Tinubu age claim persists?

I see why the date mix-up matters. Are you interested in checking government gazettes or archived news bulletins?

No need drama, any basic calendar lookup or archive will show Oct 10 1993 wasn't a Friday.

It's curious that the interview date error has kept circulating despite simple calendar checks disproving it.

Maybe we're overemphasizing a minor date mix-up instead of looking at Tinubu's actual track record and public statements.

Cross-reference multiple archives or newspaper databases to confirm publication dates before sharing age-related rumors again.
