Police Release Osun SSG as Probe Into Recovered Cash and PVCs Continues
Osun State Police Command has released Secretary to the State Government Teslim Igbalaiye, less than two days after he was arrested during a police operation at his Osogbo residence. Police said the raid followed intelligence that suspected criminals were at the property. Officers arrested Igbalaiye and five others, and recovered ₦4.81 million, two Permanent Voter Cards, a voter register, a laptop, a photocopy machine and a printer. The command said the items remain in custody for forensic examination and that it is investigating possible electoral offences, including alleged vote buying, as well as conspiracy and harbouring a wanted suspect. Police insisted the operation was intelligence-driven, rejecting claims by the state assembly speaker that the arrest was politically motivated.
