Peter Obi Demands Probe into Police Killing of Mene Ogidi in Delta State

Former Anambra governor Peter Obi has condemned the killing of a young man, Mene Ogidi, by police operatives in Effurun, Delta State. In a post on his verified social media account, he described the shooting as deeply troubling and unacceptable. Obi stressed that no one, including law enforcement officers, has the right to take a life outside legal procedures. While acknowledging the police for acting swiftly on intelligence, he insisted that accountability and transparency are essential. He called for a full and open investigation to ensure justice is served and warned that such incidents heighten public fear and erode trust in institutions. Obi also urged reforms in police recruitment and training to prevent future abuses and rebuild citizens’ confidence.
