Langtang South Youths Protest to Keep House of Reps Seat in Their Area
In Langtang South, a coalition under the Democratic Movement for Justice staged a peaceful protest calling for the retention of the House of Representatives seat in their LGA for the next political dispensation. They argue that fairness and equity require that the seat remain in the south after years in Langtang North. Comrade Joe Ponfa, chairman of the Plateau Youth Council’s Langtang South chapter, emphasised that the demand is strictly about zoning balance and not an endorsement of any individual aspirant. He said retaining the seat would address long-standing marginalisation, boost development, and strengthen unity across the federal constituency. Protesters carried placards reading “Fairness Is Not a Favour” and “Langtang South Deserves Equity,” and appealed to political parties to field qualified candidates from the area. They urged calm dialogue and pledged to pursue their demand through peaceful, democratic engagement.
