Tinubu Urges Religious Leaders to Condemn Terrorism, Kidnapping and Banditry

President Bola Tinubu has asked religious and spiritual leaders to speak consistently against terrorism, kidnapping, banditry and the use of religion to justify violence. Speaking through SGF George Akume at the Grand Maulud of Sheikh Ahmad Al-Tijani in Kano, Tinubu said clerics should promote peace education, religious literacy, moral guidance for young people and peaceful ways of resolving grievances. He said religious leaders must also remind political leaders of justice, responsibility and compassion. The President said the Tijjaniyya's networks across Nigeria and other African countries can support reconciliation, counter violent extremism and strengthen humanitarian efforts. He also reaffirmed his administration's commitment to freedom of worship, national cohesion and cooperation with religious and traditional institutions.
