Anambra to Establish Sports Departments in All 21 LGAs and Expand 1Youth2Skills
Anambra’s new Youth Development and Sports Commissioner has vowed to set up local sports and youth development departments across all 21 LGAs. This move will formalise grassroots sports under each local government administration. He plans to sustain and grow the 1Youth2Skills programme, targeting 1,000 young millionaires annually. The goal is to boost the state’s economy by shifting from consumerism to innovation and productivity. Under a PPP model, local governments will own and drive sports development in their areas. The strategy includes creating sports academies to professionalise athletics and meet global standards.
