Why Anambra State Missed Out on a $27M World Bank Grant

Why Anambra State Missed Out on a $27M World Bank Grant

The World Bank’s $27 million HOPE Governance Grant rewards states that hit reform targets in education, healthcare, public financial management and other key governance areas. Twenty states met these benchmarks and qualified for the funding. Anambra, governed by a professor of economics, did not. Abia, Enugu and Imo all secured the grant under their current administrations. This outcome should worry every Igbo person and raises serious questions about transparency and accountability in Anambra’s public service.
