Third Fume Scare at Ijebu-Ode Public Schools Sparks Panic
For the third time in five months, a mysterious odour disrupted classes at Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School in Ijebu-Ode. Students and teachers reported dizziness, coughing and breathing problems. Several pupils were rushed to the General Hospital, where they received treatment. No deaths have been recorded, but panic spread through the community. Similar incidents hit both Our Lady of Apostles and Anglican Girls Grammar School on April 1 and May 15. Each time, investigations failed to pinpoint the cause of the fumes. Parents and local leaders are calling on the Ogun State Government, environmental and health agencies to carry out urgent air and soil tests. Experts warn that repeated exposure could have long-term health effects on children.
