New Documents Reveal Gbajabiamila Approved PFIPC Director’s Canada Fintech Summit Trip

New Documents Reveal Gbajabiamila Approved PFIPC Director’s Canada Fintech Summit Trip

Fresh records show the Office of the Secretary to the Government approved Adeniyi Adeyemi, the disowned Director-General of the non-existent PFIPC, to attend the Canada-Africa Fintech Summit in August 2025. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar condemned the administration for recurring governance scandals. At the same time, SERAP has urged Senate President Akpabio and Speaker Abbas to release certified documents on the over ₦1.3 billion allocation to the PFIPC in the 2026 budget. The Presidency maintains the PFIPC never existed and has asked the DSS, police, and EFCC to investigate officials who may have facilitated the scheme. A memo signed by Engr. Nadungu Gagare, on behalf of the SGF, expressly invited Adeyemi to represent Nigeria at the summit. The dispute has escalated into a showdown between Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila and the PFIPC director. The PDP is now demanding a forensic investigation, suspension of implicated officials, and full accountability.

How could a disowned DG from a non-existent PFIPC get government approval for that Canada fintech summit trip?

It's odd that PFIPC director-general was disowned yet still received trip approval from the Office of the Secretary to the Government.

That disowning may have been symbolic. Approval processes often run on separate protocols.

Maybe there's more to PFIPC's status than we know, perhaps some legal registration errors caused official confusion.

Citizens should demand clear records of approval processes to hold officials accountable for such summit trips.
