Chelsea Secures Moises Caicedo on New Deal Until 2033

Chelsea Secures Moises Caicedo on New Deal Until 2033

Moises Caicedo has signed a new contract with Chelsea that runs until 2033. Since joining in August 2023, the Ecuadorian midfielder has featured in 140 matches for the Blues and played key roles in their UEFA Conference League and Club World Cup triumphs. ‘I am so happy to have extended my contract at Chelsea,’ Caicedo said. ‘I believe in this team and I know we’re heading in the right direction. There is still a lot more to achieve, and I’m hungry to keep improving every day.’ Caicedo has scored eight goals for the club, including his strike that was voted the 2024 Goal of the Season.

A ten-year contract seems unusually lengthy after only one season at Stamford Bridge; that's a serious gamble on his development.

I'm not convinced a decade-long deal alone will keep Chelsea competitive; success still depends on the whole squad and coaching decisions.

Chelsea should consider integrating younger academy midfielders gradually so Caicedo isn't shouldering too much responsibility over the next decade.
