Ndume Urges Military to Rescue Borno Abduction Victims Held for Over 100 Days
Borno South Senator Mohammed Ndume has called on the military to intensify efforts to rescue schoolchildren, travellers and other residents abducted in southern Borno communities. During a visit to the Operation Hadin Kai headquarters in Maiduguri, Ndume said families were growing increasingly anxious as some victims had spent more than 100 days in captivity. He cited abducted schoolchildren from Mussa and Lassa in Askira Uba, passengers taken along the Buratai axis, and residents still held after the attack on Ngoshe in Gwoza. Ndume commended troops for their efforts against insurgency but said it remained his duty to press for the safe return of his constituents. The Theatre Commander, Major General Abubakar Abdulsalam, said the military and other security agencies remained committed to protecting communities and rescuing victims.
