After 27 Years, Shooting Stars Secure CAF Confederation Cup Spot – Aweroro Cheers Return
Shooting Stars have booked their place in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup, ending a 27-year absence from continental football. The Oluyole Warriors clinched third place in the NPFL despite a 1-0 loss to Niger Tornadoes on the final matchday. Technical adviser Nurudeen Aweroro praised his players’ resilience and fighting spirit. He thanked the club’s management, supporters and Hon. Taiwo Lekan-Salami for their backing. “The heart, sweat and sacrifice came from the players and staff,” he said, urging fans and media to celebrate the team’s achievement. Appointed last summer after a stint with Ikorodu City, Aweroro has rapidly built a reputation as one of the brightest young coaches in the Nigerian top flight. His leadership saw Shooting Stars finish fourth in the league last season before this historic continental qualification.
