Ondo Police Bust Idanre Robbery Ring, Arrest Four and Seize Illegal Guns

Ondo Police Bust Idanre Robbery Ring, Arrest Four and Seize Illegal Guns

Four men were arrested by the Ondo State Police in Idanre following the theft of a cocoa shipment valued at N1.25 million. The suspects were named Alex Omotayo, Adeleye Bolu, Osho Ibukun and Nura Umar. The arrest stemmed from intelligence gathered after a complainant reported the break-in at his cocoa store. Officers recovered two illegal firearms hidden in the principal suspect’s residence. Further investigation revealed that one suspect had threatened a school security guard on an earlier occasion. A search warrant led detectives to the weapons, which are now held as exhibits. The case and suspects have been transferred to the Anti-Cultism Unit in Akure. Police assured the public that manhunts continue for other gang members and urged residents to share any information that could aid investigations.

How do you think police intelligence led to busting the Idanre robbery ring so quickly?

Absolutely. Quick info sharing and thorough groundwork probably gave police the edge to strike fast.

Seems odd that four suspects held four illegal guns and stole N1.25 million worth of cocoa without inside help.

I'm not convinced this bust was driven by solid intelligence rather than a push for easy publicity from the police.

Businesses shipping cocoa should consider adding GPS tracking to prevent theft and allow faster police response.
