Davido Says Akpabio and Dangote Asked Him to Delete Osun Election Posts

Davido says Senate President Godswill Akpabio and businessman Aliko Dangote contacted him during the Osun governorship election and asked him to remove some election-related social media posts. Speaking in a television interview, the singer said he refused to delete the updates until the Independent National Electoral Commission made its official announcement. He also alleged that more than ₦110 billion was deployed to influence the poll, although he provided no evidence in the interview. Davido, whose uncle Ademola Adeleke won the election, said his side did not spend money at polling units. He claimed voters resisted alleged attempts to interfere with ballot materials and said the result showed the power of public support.
