Kwara 2027: VGG Warns Ajaikaye May Falter Without Grassroots in Offa/Oyun/Ifelodun
A civil society group in Kwara State has criticised Dr Rafiu Ajaikaye, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, over his bid to represent Offa/Oyun/Ifelodun in the National Assembly. The Voice for Good Governance (VGG) argues that media visibility does not replace ward-level mobilisation. VGG says Ajaikaye lacks an independent grassroots network and has not delivered local projects or maintained regular contact with community leaders. They warn that constituency voters demand candidates who can address security, roads, schools and economic needs beyond election season. The group adds that the upcoming APC primary will reveal whether loyalty to the governor’s circle or proven local organisation holds more sway. Ajaikaye’s outcome could set the tone for Kwara’s post-2019 political structure.
