Troops Free Three Hostages After Gun Battle With Terrorists in Plateau
Security forces from Sector 2, Operation Enduring Peace, rescued three hostages on July 11 following a fierce clash with suspected terrorists in Wase Local Government Area, Plateau State. Acting on credible intelligence about armed men moving abductees along Aduwa Road, troops intercepted the group at about 6:30 pm. The terrorists abandoned the captives and fled into the bush under heavy fire. Preliminary reports show the victims were taken from Kufayi Village in Taraba’s Karim Lamido LGA and driven through the Wase axis. They were found unharmed, debriefed and handed over to authorities before being reunited with their families. Security sources say the military is pursuing the fleeing suspects as part of wider efforts to dismantle kidnapping networks along the Plateau–Taraba border corridor.
