Transgender Mother and Partner Charged with Kidnapping 10-Year-Old Son to Cuba
A transgender woman and her partner were arrested on April 20 for allegedly abducting her 10-year-old son and flying him to Cuba. Authorities say they lured the boy away under the pretense of a camping trip and cut off contact with his biological mother after crossing the Canada–US border. Officials report that the group flew from Vancouver to Mexico City before landing in Havana. They remained in Cuba until their deportation back to the US on April 20. The child, who briefly self-identified as a girl, was supposed to return to his mother on April 3. A Utah court granted the ex-wife exclusive custody of the boy on April 13. Federal charges include international parental kidnapping, and the couple will face extradition from Virginia back to Utah for trial.
