Rufai Oseni Challenges NRS Chief to Account for Inflation Losses After Subsidy Removal
Arise Television anchor Rufai Oseni has challenged Nigeria Revenue Service chairman Zacch Adedeji to account for the economic losses Nigerians have suffered from inflation since fuel subsidy removal. Adedeji said the removal of petrol subsidy prevented the government from spending an estimated ₦53 trillion and stopped the naira from weakening to about ₦3,500 per dollar. He also said monthly allocations to states increased from roughly ₦700 billion to ₦4.5 trillion. Responding on social media, Oseni argued that the government should balance those claimed savings against the purchasing-power losses households have faced amid inflation, which he put at 15.91 percent in June 2026.
